How are rankings in tennis calculated?

The ATP awards points according to a player’s performance at specific tournaments, which is how they determine the tennis world rankings.

A player receives points based on how far they advance in an official event.
The most points are awarded during grand slams, with the champion receiving 2000 and the runner-up receiving 1200.
Points collected from every competition are cumulative, with weekly rankings updates.
When are the rankings for tennis updated?
Every Monday, when there are no tournaments, the ATP and WTA both update their rankings.
Apart from when Grand Slams are being competed, you can therefore often anticipate weekly updates.
